Cold war kids is one of the bands I ran across lately, and I’ve been listening to them a lot. This video from La Blogotheque is just great… I really like these kinds of street shows they make. Check also the Andrew Bird video in their website.

Crazy camp night

If I hadn’t lived this experience before, I wouldn’t believe all those guys who where there that night.

We were in the last night of our summer Camp, and after the meeting we (the leaders) were praying for the boys and girls when the Holy Spirit came and… well, the video shows it pretty well. That lasted aprox. 1 hour, it was incredible and funny =)

I’ve met some people who find it hard to believe in these kind of experiences. It was the same for me at first, taking into account that I was raised in a very conservative Baptist church (I also got many good things from there, just in case =) and I’m still in a Baptist church (not conservative at all, as you can see in the video). I can’t say that everybody in that night was really under the Holy Spirit influence, or if some were faking it… but I have experienced that before, and when it comes… you can’t control it nor fake it. Thanks God the Holy Spirit is more powerful and creative than any of us!

The gospel of the Kingdom

I just returned from one of my cell groups (actually, I don’t like that word… ‘cell’… mmm… I should describe them as… ’small home-groups’ =). While I was reading some blogs I was thinking about how much I love preaching the gospel and teaching the Bible in such an informal and also powerful way. I love being used by the Holy Spirit to change lives… after all, that is what preaching the gospel of the Kingdom is all about.

Today’s teaching was about Mark 1.14-15:

Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!“‘

God has been teaching me about the gospel of the Kingdom lately. I’m trying to learn and live all about that powerful truth, that I’m a citizen of an incredible kingdom. Isn’t that great?

Seeking glory, honor and immortality?

Reading aloud the Bible has totally changed my attitude towards at what used to be a well-known book, and now appears to me as a fascinating collection of misteries. Verses that I know by heart seem different when I read them aloud and slowly. And some others that I’ve never paid attention to, are forcing me to meditate more and more the Bible.

Yesterday while I was reading Romans I found this particular verse, that apparently contradicts all about doing things without expecting a reward. So now I’m trying to “understand” it.

To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.

Romans 2.7 (NIV)

Seeking glory, honor and immortality doesn’t sound very “Christian”, right? What about having good motivations? Any ideas?

Forcing or teaching?

God gives the youth the freedom of honoring Him or not. The duty of the church is not to force them to honor God. The duty of the church is to teach them to honor God. And honoring God is much deeper than doing that which seems ‘normal’, ‘Christian’ or ‘formal’ […]

You can’t teach a generation to honor God through rules, customs and churches’ cultural preferences. The teaching of honoring God is based on the freedom that the individual has of choosing to honor Him.

Listening right now: Los Campesinos! – You! Me! Dancing!

The first one is easy: This a blog (really). It’s the perfect way to write all those things I might want to say when nobody’s near to hear them. Although I’ve had another blogs (and I actually have a photoblog that is updated almost daily), this is the first one that I’m going to write entirely in English.

The second question is a bit more complicated: According to some people I’m called Santiago Pauli, I live in a beautiful city called Río Grande (located in the province of Tierra del Fuego, in Argentina), I’m 20 years old and I teach English in some High schools. According to God I’m his son, a king and a priest, his servant and a Jesus-like travel trailer where the Holy Spirit likes to live. According to my parents I’m a mystical eccentric that always loved books instead of sports. According to myself… well, right now I prefer God’s point of view (it sounds better).

I’ve been trying to become more and more disciplined for ages. So I hope I’m going to be able to update this blog regularly.

Take into account that English is not my native language. So, if you see some serious mistake, tell me before you start throwing things at me (or at the screen).

Why ‘Sitting on a flying cloud‘?. Well, that will be explained in another post.
